In 1961, Tom and his wife, Elaine, opened Miesen's Color Center in
downtown Springfield to compliment the paint contracting business.
In 1946, Tom Miesen began working as a painter following his discharge from the U.S. Navy Air Corps.
In 1950, he started his own paint contracting business, Tom Miesen Painting.
